Ballet San Jose's ‘Balanchine’ This Weekend

SAN JOSE — Ballet San Jose will present “Just Balanchine” on Saturday, March 29, at 8 p.m. and Sunday, March 30, at 1:30 p.m. at San Jose center for the Performing Arts, 255 Almaden Blvd.

The program consists of three favorites by Russian-born master choreographer George Balanchine: “Serenade” (1934), “Theme and Variations” (1960) and “The Four Temperaments” (1946).

The company includes:

Erena Ishii, who accompanied Ballet San Jose School to Italy to compete in the Grand Prix Italia, where she helped take home two first place awards;

Mirai Noda, who performed in principal roles of “The Nutcracker,” “Swan Lake” and “Don Quixote” last year;

Akira Takahashi, who has performed in “Blue Suede Shoes,” “The Nutcracker,” “Romeo & Juliet,” “Middle Kingdom — Ancient China,” “Cinema Soundtracks,” “Ontogeny” and “The Firebird”;

Yui Yonezawa, winner of the Senior Women’s Bronze Medal at the VIII USA International Ballet Competition last June in Jackson, Miss.
