“Heroes,” NBC’s hit series featuring Masi Oka as time-traveling Hiro Nakamura, will return for its third season on Monday, Sept. 22, at 9 p.m.
The next chapter in the saga of everyday people with extraordinary powers is titled "Villains," but few details are being released.
The show has been off the air for months, as the second season was cut short by the writers’ strike. The last few episodes can be viewed at www.nbc.com, and all of Season 2 is available on DVD.

LOS ANGELES — Actor George Takei, chairman emeritus of the Board of Trustees for the Japanese American National Museum, recently appeared on the ABC TV show “Wanna Bet?” and wound up winning over $100,000 for his favorite non-profit organization: JANM.

Hosted by British comedy sensations Ant and Dec, the show revolves around individuals or groups of people who claim they can accomplish a certain task or feat, often within a time limit.

LOS ANGELES - Despite furious voting by Katee Taira Shean's fans in the Bay Area, Orange County and beyond, the San Jose native placed third on Aug. 7 in the final episode of the Fox reality show "So You Think You Can Dance."

Shean, 20, a student at Chapman University in Orange, was one of four finalists who performed solo and in pairs. The results were a combination of the judges' rankings and votes from viewers who phoned in. There was no limit on the number of times an individual could vote.

Bay Area station KTSF broadcasts Japanese television shows locally on Channel. 26. Starting Saturday, Aug. 9, from 9 p.m., it will begin showing a new Japanese show, "Daisuki! Itsutsu Go Go!!" (We Love Quintuplets!).

The show will air in Japanese with English subtitles.

After last week’s elimination round, four contestants remain on the Fox reality show “So You Think You Can Dance.” San Jose’s Katee Taira Shean made the cut and has a shot at winning this week.

Mark Kanemura of Honolulu as bumped along with Chelsie Hightower of Orem, Utah. In addition to Shean, the final four are Courtney Galiano of New York, Joshua Allen of Fort Worth, and Twitch Boss of Montgomery, Ala.

San Jose native Katee Taira Shean and the other top-10 finalists of the Fox reality show "So You Think You Can Dance" will go on a nationwide tour starting in September.

The stage show will feature this season's dancers performing their hottest routines in hip-hop, contemporary, ballroom, tango, mambo and salsa.

Northern and Central California venues are as follows:

• Thursday, Sept. 25, at HP Pavilion in San Jose

• Tuesday, Sept. 30, at Oracle Arena in Oakland

• Thursday, Oct. 2, at ARCO Arena in Sacramento

• Sunday, Oct. 5, at SaveMart Center in Fresno

BERKELEY — “Apex Express,” an Asian Pacific Islander radio program, airs Thursdays from 7 to 8 p.m. on KPFA, 94.1 FM in Berkeley, and KFCF, 88.1 FM in Fresno. The July 31 broadcast will feature the following:

Acclaimed watercolor artist Lewis Suzuki talks about a life with wife Mary Bonzo Suzuki, who recently passed away, in a journey of love, art and activism.

Also, Japanese Americans and Palestinians meet and talk about their experiences of civil liberties and land lost.

The show also includes a community calendar.

She may not be as famous as Kristi Yamaguchi, but Katee Taira Shean, a finalist on the Fox reality show “So You Think You Can Dance,” is a household name for millions of fans who have been following her progress for the past few weeks.

Like “Dancing With the Stars,” the ABC show that Yamaguchi and partner Mark Ballas dominated earlier this year, the contestants on “So You Think You Can Dance” are evaluated by a panel of judges as well as viewers, who vote via the Internet.

San Jose’s Katee Taira Shean, pictured doing the samba with Joshua Allen, has made the top 10 on Fox’s popular reality show “So You Think You Can Dance,” which airs Wednesdays at 8 p.m. Shean, 20, a graduate of Pioneer High School and a student at Chapman University in Orange, will also be part of a national tour, including HP Pavilion in San Jose on Sept. 25.

The U.S. Congress has mandated that all television broadcast stations throughout the nation must stop broadcasting in analog format and begin broadcasting in digital format only.

According to the Federal Communications Commission (FCC), this technological transition to digital television (DTV) will take place on Feb. 17, 2009 in order to free up frequencies for public safety communications such as police, fire, and emergency rescue.
