The students were encouraged to attend a forum on the anniversary that the chapter will be presenting on Aug. 9 at San Jose City College.
The scholarships were made possible by the generosity of Community Youth Services, John and Alice Hayakawa, Rose Kinaga, Michi Masunaga, Ray and Lucy Matsumoto, the Matsumura and Ota families, Jackie Nakamura, San Jose JACL, San Jose Ninja Youth Foundation, Shizu Sakauye and family, Henry and Sharon Uyeda, and the William K. Members of the selection committee were Gary Jio, Mitsu Kumagai, Pat Nakashima and Joyce Oyama, with Sharon Uyeda serving as chair.
